how long is too long

i haven't been certain what to say. have you stopped by to see words and all i've left is blanks? i've been here and there. busy with this and that. and pondering what is remarkable these days. i have been engaging this season. touching it with the tips of my fingers, even if they are battered in bandaids. something magical happens in this changing of season, in this preparation for hibernation. although we don't have to hibernate here in california and for this i am grateful. so i am out hiking and biking and running and breathing. wondering why movies about life and age make me cry from a deeper place, a more tangible place, a place of having known, of having been there. and my hair is turning and my joints ache deeper and everything is perfect. i write unfinished concepts in my head as i speak. things like "it's happening right now" and "this is the time." and when you come home at night, i hand them to you written out on pieces of paper and ask you to make sense of them. and you do. this is a season for turning and reflecting and respecting and renewing and remembering.
do you remember when we used to? i do.

Heather's lesson and advice for the future: get out, get up, get going.
