So i headed back to Seattle. This time to marry my friends. Weddings. Marriage. Oh how we could have a good conversation about these things, but lets do it in person some time. To get to the actual ceremony was a lovely and long process of emails and phone conversations and an entire weekend spent together so that i could really understand their coming together in a deeper way- So that i could stand up with them in front of their community and speak about them and love and marriage and why two people truly come together in this ritualistic way. I actually went and became an ordained reverend instantly online. You can too. And there sure is a whole lotta stuff that needs to be coordinated even if it seems like you're throwing a low-key gathering of 150 people. But i must say it was an honor to write that ceremony and be that close with them.
Between wedding activities we ran around town meeting up with people, cup of tea, basketball game, dinner, drinks, time to sneak away for a hike, an art exhibit. Here's a picture of me being a square. and after hitting up some friends for a place to stay most of the week, we headed off to the hippest hotel around. Serio
usly- i hope to have an excuse to stay at their hotel in Portland and anywhere else they open. The picture to the left is part of the obey mural that was in our room.But i must say after all that hecticness it was again as i always write- so nice to come home. A true vacation day came when we headed up to the Saturday Farmer's Market in Point Reyes Station. Drove up a bit further to the town of Marshall and stopped by the general store. A spot to get oysters on the half shell, a beer and to sit by the water and watch the sailboats bob in the misty mountain backdrop. A long walk down an ocean beach and a nice quiet drive home. If we pick some peaches and plums, i'll make a chutney if you make a cobbler?
Heather's lesson and advice for the future: easy on the cayenne when making chutney, it's real easy to overdue it and really hard to cut that spice once you have.
